The COVID-19 virus may have called for the cancelation of the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade through Huntington Village, but that won’t stop the Ancient Order of Hibernians from celebrating their Irish culture on this special holiday. While they won’t be marching down the street with local fire departments and marching bands, they will take their festivities online with the launch of a virtual event video on March 14, 2021 at 2:00PM.

Another noble tradition continues with the brothers of AOH Division 4 in Huntington, the Thanksgiving Food Drive.
Brothers came out to prepare food bags for families in need in the Huntington area. Thanks to gracious support and donations from Stop and Shop, over 200 families received food bags delivered to their doorstep and to local parishes by volunteer from the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
The team effort, led by division President Tom Dougherty and past President Jack Ryan, made quick work of the task. The energies of all who took part showed once again what this division and organization is all about; Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity.
The 2020 food drive faced some unique challenges this year during the COVID pandemic. Volunteers practiced safety precautions and worked harder than ever to keep this tradition alive. The need in the community does not stop because of the pandemic, and the brothers of AOH Division 4 won’t stop either.
The Thanksgiving Food Drive is an annual event; they encourage all to come out to lend a hand. For more information about future Food drives, please contact Jack Ryan for dates and times.
Every year the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 4 from Huntington, NY awards the Colleen Scholarship to the eligible daughters of members.
The division grants the scholarship based on set criteria that emulate the division’s core principals; Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity. Past Colleen Scholarship winners have used the scholarship earnings to ease the burden of college tuition and additional costs accrued with the college experience.

Snowfall and slippery roads could not curtail the herculean efforts of all involved in the second annual AOH Charity Comedy night. A packed, sold-out crowd laughed and ate while supporting a great cause, the local SEPTA (Special Education Parent Teachers Association). Five area High School’s will receive scholarships to award to outstanding Special Education students.
Those in attendance enjoyed tasty dishes donated from an assortment of local restaurants including; Albert’s Mandarin, Crabtrees, Mac’s Steakhouse, Mr. Sausage, Old Field’s BBQ, Ost’era Da Nino, Primo Piatto, Red Restaurant, and Sapsuckers.
Audience members enjoyed a night of comedy from two feature comedians who kept the audience laughing throughout the evening.
Overall, the evening was a smashing success and paves the way for the comedy night to become an annual tradition. Thank you to all those who pitched in to help with the organization, set-up, and break-down. A special thank you to John Broderick, Division 4’s Vice President, for all his hard work in organizing and running this wonderful event.
